Sammy Huynh

Mr. Sammy Huynh is an Aiken native and current dental student at the JBE College of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina located in Charleston. He has a passion for dentistry and mentorship and says, “Being able to build up confidence by empowering others, whether it be through dentistry or teaching, is the most gratifying thing to me”. In his free time, Sammy enjoys going to the gym, playing guitar, and watching Gamecock football with his friends.

Born and raised in Aiken, SC, Sammy is a graduate of South Aiken High School class of 2014. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of South Carolina where he served in numerous student organization leadership roles and was a peer advisor for pre-professional students. Following his graduation from USC in 2018, he moved to Charleston and completed his master’s degree in medical sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina where he immediately enrolled in dental school after. Currently, Sammy serves as the District 4 ASDA Pre-dental Chair where he mentors pre-dental students across five states in the southeast, and he is an active member of the dental school’s admissions committee. Upon receiving his DMD from MUSC in 2023, Sammy plans to apply for post-graduate residency programs in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He continues to stay well connected with Aiken where his family lives and feels that Project Menteen is a great opportunity for him to give back to his hometown and inspire those that are pursuing college or post-graduate degrees.
